Downtown White Plains is the seat of Westchester County, and more importantly, home to the local music store. Our Campus

We live on a collaborative and sustainable campus, and we work to create the kind of society we want to see in the world. Located just 35 miles north of NYC, our campus sits on 500 acres of fields and forests in suburban Westchester County. The Tarrytown Music Hall—originally built with a chocolatier’s fortune—is now one of the only 100% solar-powered music halls in the country. It’s an amazing venue for live music that through the years has hosted everyone from Janis Joplin to Katy Perry. The close proximity to New York City has, for more than a century, attracted a local surplus of artists, chefs, architects, historians, and musicians, with their homes and businesses.

Purchase College is proudly recognized by a variety of publications, including US News and World Report,ThePrinceton Review, and The Hollywood Reporter. Other schools may say it, but few truly deliver—our campus culture is one of a kind. You really have to walk around our campus to feel it for yourself. Our campus master plan brought together several highly renowned architects, each assigned to design a single building on the Main Plaza. Clustered together in the center to form a campus center, the new buildings were constructed of the same brown brick. Tucked away on a 500-acre former estate in Westchester County, our unique campus was designed by master architect Edward Larrabee Barnes.

A Culture of Inclusivity

These events and programs are funded through the PSGA and paid for with the mandatory student activities fee. Choose from 48 majors and 38 minors of undergraduate study, and seven graduate programs. This fee allows students to request and receive official transcripts without additional charge. This fee is not the health insurance—it does not cover medications, diagnostic tests or services off campus. Supports cultural, social, educational and general interest student programs as well as recognized student organizations sponsored by the Purchase Student Government Association.

Fifty years later, we remain committed to providing both academic excellence and affordability to students of all backgrounds, resulting in a unique and inclusive environment for learning. Controversial at the time, the color combination was put up for a student vote, twice, and became the unofficial colors of choice, still embraced by many. The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF)  grant will provide scholarships and support to 34 STEM students.

Students are assessed at the rate of $943.00 per semester for full-time students and pro-rated on a credit-hour basis ($78.59/credit) for part-time students. We’ve gathered a selection of resources to help you understand the intricacies of paying for college and the financial impact on students and families. We combine rigorous coursework in the liberal arts and sciences with world-class conservatory programs in the visual and performing arts. Purchase students benefit from the ease of access to NYC, but you don’t need to ride into Manhattan to get your groceries, see a movie, or get a part-time job. If you’re an undergraduate, graduate, or transfer student, determine your program’s application deadline and requirements, then choose your application status to get started.

If you previously attended Purchase as a matriculated (degree-seeking) student, we welcome you to return. BFA, MusB, and the Creative Writing BA program all have specific requirements for talent assessment. In addition, all students benefit from the enhancement of our athletic facilities, fitness equipment, and jobs generated each year by the athletic fee and programs.
